| Burlington Arcade |
| Burlington Arcade is the world's oldest shopping mall. It was created in 1819 by Lord George Cavendish along the side of his Burlington House home (now the Royal Academy). Designed by Samuel Ware in the Regency style, the 200-yard arcade contains 43 tiny shops selling luxury goods such as antiques, silver, jewellery and fashion. |
| The arcade has its own police force - Beadles - who make sure that shoppers behave themselves. |
