Garrick's Temple
Garrick's Temple was built on the banks of the River Thames at Hampton in 1756 by leading actor and theatre manager David Garrick to celebrate the genius of William Shakespeare.
The octagonal interior is dominated by a replica statue of Shakespeare - the original, sculpted by Louis Roubiliac in 1758, is safely housed in the British Museum. There is also an exhibition on the life and times of David Garrick.
