| Head of the River Race |
| The Head of the River Race is held annually in March. Unlike the Boat Race, where you can blink and miss it, this race involves 420 rowing eights hammering down the Thames from Mortlake to Putney (reverse course to the Boat Race). Over 60 overseas crews visit London especially for the race making it a truly international event. |
Probably the best place to see the race is perched on Hammersmith Bridge (as pictured) as the crews negotiate the large bend of the river round the Barnes/Castlenau peninsula. |
