Wall of the Ancestors
The Wall of the Ancestors was sculpted in cream cast stone on to the east face of Aragon Tower, Deptford Strand, in 1997 by Martin Bond.
The Wall of the Ancestors celebrates the historical significance of Deptford's waterfront by portraying 16 heads of it most colourful protagonists, including Catherine of Aragon, Francis Drake, Queen Elizabeth I and Russian tsar Peter the Great.

Deptford used to be the centre of England's boatbuilding industry - Henry VIII opened the Royal Naval Dockyard here in 1513 and Peter the Great trained as a young shipwright.
