Disover The Real London
Bunhill Fields
Bunhill Fields is the prime burial ground for religious dissenters. Notable among the non-conformists buried here are authors Daniel Defoe (Robinson Crusoe) and John Bunyan (The Pilgrim's Progress) and poet and painter William Blake. 120,000 people were buried in this small four hectare plot, the last in 1854.
Bunhill Fields was turned into a public open space in 1867 and today is a popular lunch spot for local office workers. With its large London plane trees, it offers a calm, green haven from the hectic glass offices of the Square Mile.
