Hammerton's Ferry
Hammerton's Ferry provides a vital short cut across the River Thames between Ham and Twickenham - the nearest bridges in Richmond and Teddington are a good mile away. The foot ferry service operates every day between 1st February and 31st October and at weekends for the Winter months.
Walter Hammerton began the ferry service in 1909, charging 1d (price now 60p for adults, 30p for kids) for the journey. His skiff, The Pax is now an exhibit in the Museum in Docklands.
