| Newman Arms |
| The Newman Arms pub in Fitzroiva is famous for two things - its connection with George Orwell and its famous Pie Room. George Orwell, a regular at the pub, based the Newmans on his Proles pub in his dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four and had anti-hero Gordon Comstock holding court here in Keep The Aspidistra Flying. |
| The Pie Room, found up a rickety flight of stairs, serves up pies, and only pies. These include steak and kidney, beef and guinness, chicken and broccoli, lamb and rosemary and vegetarian. |

Newman Passage, running beside the pub, was the scene of the first murder in Michael Powell's 1960 film Peeping Tom. |
