Disover The Real London
Tate Modern
Tate Modern houses the nation's collection of international modern art (1900 onwards) that includes Fauvism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism (the Rothko room is a must) and Pop Art. The 135 metre-long Turbine Hall plays host every year to a specially commissioned work of art for the Unilever Series.
Formerly the disused Bankside power station (built by Giles Gilbert Scott), the building was refashioned in 2000 by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron into the art gallery we know and love today. Millennium Bridge links the gallery across the River Thames to St Paul's Cathedral.
Southwark and Blackfriars.
