Disover The Real London
London Wetland Centre
The London Wetland Centre at Barn Elms is the best urban site in Europe to watch wildlife. The 105-acre site was transformed in 2000 from four disused reservoirs into a patchwork of reedbeds, grazing marshes, wetland meadows and lakes - a perfect haven for thousands of different bird species.
With the help of a network of paths, six hides and a viewing observatory, you can easily get close to the birds (such as kingfishers, bitterns, cormorants, even ospreys) without intrusion.
