Disover The Real London
Bow Creek Ecology Park
Bow Creek Ecology Park is one of London's newest parks, opening in 2006. Essentially a nature reserve, it lies on a small peninsula surrounded by water as the River Lea ox-bows its way round Bow Creek at Leamouth.
The best time to visit is in Spring and Summer when several species of butterfly (peacock, orange tip, speckled wood and yellow brimstone) thrive in the series of small interlocking ponds and meadow flowers (cowslip, comfrey, celandine and red campion). The park and the surrounding river also acts as a natural habitat for redwings, swans, geese, waders and warblers.
Entrance to the park is next to Canning Town tube and DLR station.
5, 69, 147, 300, 309, 323, 330 and N550 all stop at Canning Town bus station.
